Shigatse (གཞིས་ཀ་རྩེ་ – 日喀则) is a prefecture-level city of the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. It is officially known as Xigazê, and is located within the historical Tsang province of Tibet.

The administrative center of the prefecture-level city of Shigatse is the Samzhubzê District.

The Samzhubzê District is roughly equivalent to the ancient Shigatse urban center and is the second-largest city in Tibet.

Shigatse is located about 280 km (170 mi) southwest of Lhasa. Shigatse is home to the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, which is traditionally the seat of the Panchen Lama.
